  What was the last time you invested in your team's tech skills?

  Now is the time. Especially with such a perfect incentive: we are excited to announce that Canada–BC Job Grant program is accepting applications for 2016/17 year.

  What is Canada-BC Job Grant? Briefly, it’s a government program that offsets the cost of training employees by up to 67%. That means you pay three times less the regular price, and the government will subsidize up to $10,000 per employee or $250,000 per employer per fiscal year.

  Canada-BC Job Grant is by far the best way to cut employee training costs that we’ve ever encountered. Nearly any company is eligible, you can spend money on nearly any certified training (PowerConcepts included, of course), and the whole process is as easy and straightforward as it can be. 

  To start, follow the steps outline on Canada–BC Job Grant website. Don’t wait too long, as applications are accepted only until September 30, 2016.

• Microsoft Cloud is coming to Canada

  Canada’s online presence is growing and Microsoft is taking notice. Starting in 2016, Canadian businesses will have the option to store data and manage their companies through Canada-based data centres.

  This is great news for organizations that have to adhere to strict data storage regulations, but also for businesses that would like their data to be protected by Canadian laws.

  Cloud servers have a number of advantages to them. They are easier to set up, cheaper, scalable both up and down and arguably more secure. Traditional servers take a lot of man hours to configure and maintain, and if you run out of space, well, than you have to change the infrastructure, which will cost you. Versus cloud-based servers, where deployment takes minutes and extra space is available on demand at any time.

  The data centres would be located in Toronto and Quebec city. Microsoft promises that their Azure technology would be available early 2016, followed by Office 365 and Dynamic CRM later that year. Something we’ll definitely keep an eye on.

• Save 67% on training with BC Job Grant

  Have you heard about Canada-BC Job Grant? It’s a cost-sharing program started by the Government of Canada to help offset the costs of training for new or current employees. Currently, the grant can cover two-thirds of the training costs of up to $10,000 with no limits to the number of grants the company may receive. 

  Here is how it works. The employer seeking training should confirm the eligibility, complete and submit the application, and await for a decision (made within 30 days). Once the application is approved, the province will ask the company to sign the agreement. An employer pays full fees to the agreed service provider and requests reimbursement after the employee has begun the training process. 

  This is a great possibility for BC employers to cut training costs by up to 67%. Moreover, PowerConcepts, as a software training provider, is definitely eligible for the grant.
